Frequently Asked Questions
How much do
you charge?
My fee is $90 for a 50-minute session for individuals and couples. For groups, the fee is $40 per 1.5-hour session.
Fees are paid at each
session, unless I bill your insurance as a preferred provider.
Do you take
insurance?
I am a preferred
provider for these insurance plans, and can bill them directly:
-
Regence
-
Premera
-
Uniform Medical
Plan
-
First Choice
-
Multiplan
For other plans, I am happy to provide a statement that you can submit to
your insurance company to be reimbursed for your payments to me. Please
understand that this may be at a lower rate than for providers on your
insurance panel.
NOTE: Billing
your insurance company requires that I give you a mental health diagnosis.
Not all diagnoses or types of therapy are eligible for insurance payment
(e.g., couples therapy). Additionally, some managed care plans may require
more direct involvement in your therapy specifying treatment, determining
the number of allowed sessions, etc. Once that statement is submitted to the
insurance company, I cannot control who has access to your information. Some
clients prefer to maintain their privacy keeping the therapeutic work
between them and me and, therefore, not use their insurance. It is
important that you understand all these implications, so that you can make
an informed decision.
Is therapy
confidential?
Our work and the
things you say in therapy are confidential. I will not disclose anything you
say. The only exceptions to this are:
- if you
are a danger to yourself or others, or
- if you
authorize me to share information with someone else.
If you use your insurance, you will need to sign an authorization for me to
disclose only the information needed for billing purposes (i.e., diagnosis).
I do meet with
professional colleagues for consultation. This is an expected and standard
clinical practice that helps me to provide the best therapy that I can. No
information that can specifically identify you is ever shared in these
consultations. Your confidentiality is strictly maintained.
How do I know
if youre the right therapist for me?
Having a therapist that you feel comfortable with is crucial. It needs to be
a good fit like a hand in a glove. I am successful at putting clients at
ease, establishing rapport, and developing trust. You should feel
supported, encouraged, even challenged. You can always be open and honest
with me about anything our relationship as well as your issues. |
