Approach
Why do Therapy?
Maybe you’ve been
feeling stuck in your life.
- In a rut and
can’t get out?
- Repeating old
patterns and don’t know how to change them?
- Feel like
something is missing?
- Tired of
"surface" relationships that aren't satisfying?
You don’t have to be
“mentally ill” to benefit from therapy. You can begin to improve your life,
work on problems, and achieve your goals.
Process
Psychotherapy is a
process that helps you:
- Learn to
make better decisions,
- Improve
your personal skills,
- Gain
insight into yourself,
- Enhance
your relationships, and
- Acquire a
keener awareness of your needs and those of others.
Think of therapy as a
journey that you and I go on together. Rather than telling you where to go
or what to do, I serve as a guide. I may point out things you may not have
noticed, suggest things to consider exploring, or offer you a new
perspective on things. I have the privilege of accompanying you on your
trip, standing beside you rather than leading you, as you explore and
discover things about yourself.
By talking about your
problems, we both get a better understanding of what is going on for you.
Through our conversations, I can point out distorted thinking and ways of
acting that aren’t helping, suggest different options for you to consider,
and help you to create your plan for change.
Outcomes
Our work
together is to help you improve your life. Deeper self-awareness is
important. B ut, it is necessary to then apply that understanding to make
concrete changes that affect your everyday experiences. My focus will be to
help you make changes so that you can solve problems, change patterns, and
learn new skills.
